IAU to celebrate World Health Day

International American University (IAU) will celebrate World Health Day by hosting, Diabetes Awareness Day on April 7, 2016.

In conjunction with other celebrations taking place around the world, the University will help to raise awareness about the rise of diabetes in low and middle-incomes countries.

Dedicated to it’s mission and vision, IAU will host the event in collaboration with St. Jude Hospital and the St. Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension Association. Diabetes Awareness Day will feature cooking demonstrations of diabetes-friendly recipes, poster presentations and free blood tests.

The event is open to the general public. World Health Day is celebrated in each year to mark the founding of the World Health Organization in 1948.

Each year a different theme is chosen as a priority area of public health to keep the public informed of activities and knowledge that can lead to better health.
