Guy Joseph tells UWP to take ‘Pep’ to court

Guy Joseph, the MP for Castries South East, has called on his opposition United Workers Party (UWP), to take Anse La Raye Canaries MP, Doctor Desmond ‘Pep’ Long to court.

“Tell Pep the money he drew for four years he should give it back,” Guy Joseph told a meeting of the UWP in Gros Islet last night.

The Castries South East MP declared that he would be pressing his party to take ‘Pep’ to court, after the Anse La Raye Canaries MP admitted that because of a conflict between his duties as a medical Doctor and a representative of his constituency, he had decided not to seek re-election.

Joseph told UWP supporters that a man cannot present himself, send an application for a job which he says he is going to do and after being paid for over four years, announce that he could not perform because he did not have the time.

“It means that you draw taxpayers’ money under false pretence,” Joseph said.

According to the former Communications and Works Minister, ‘Pep’ should have resigned on the day he said he could not do the job and the whole of Saint Lucia should have been marching to demand his resignation.

“They should be saying ‘we want our money back’,” Joseph declared, adding that the people of Saint Lucia have been taken for a ride for too long.
