Gruesome chopping at Soufriere

Police are investigating a gruesome chopping incident which occurred on Wednesday evening at Soufriere, involving a farmer who is reportedly in his late 30’s.

Reports are that Gary Melius, from Esperance, Soufriere was returning from his farm when he was attacked by another male who had a machete in his possession.

Melius was discovered lying in a pool of blood close to the Mocha Bridge, Fond St. Jacques at around 7:00 p.m. and was bleeding profusely from the head and arms.

Residents were surprised by the incident, stating that the community is a peaceful one.

Melius was taken to the Soufriere Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
