Efforts underway to end Treasury strike

Efforts are currently underway to end a strike by employees of the Treasury Department, the Times has been reliably informed.

The Treasury employees downed tools this morning, Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

They claim that the building in which they work has air quality issues.

According to the employees, several of them have become sick as a result of the situation which has been ongoing for the past two years.

This morning a meeting was held involving representatives of the Saint Lucia Civil Service Association (CSA), which represents the Treasury employees, and government officials to seek ways of addressing the workers’ concerns.

In the meantime, the Treasury Department remains closed.
