Courts St. Lucia Honoured for Outstanding Contribution to Education Sector

Local Furniture and Electrical superstore Courts, has been signalled out as an outstanding contributor to the Education sector. This pronouncement was made at the official annual National awards ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour, held on Tuesday January 19th 2016.

Courts St. Lucia is known to take their role as market leaders very seriously through the many corporate social responsibility ventures undertaken by the company over the years. One of such initiatives is the annual and very popular “Courts Schools Reading Competition”, held at the primary school level for students between the ages of eight and nine years old across the OECS. The competition which is in its eighth year is organized by Courts, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour. The Courts Schools Reading Competition which encourages reading among the youth assesses fluency, accuracy, enunciation, pronunciation, smoothness, confidence and expression of the participants.

The awards ceremony, held under the theme “Celebrating Excellence: Transforming Lives”, saw in attendance dignitaries to include Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, Governor General of Saint Lucia, The Honourable Minister for Education, Human Resource Development and Labour, Dr Robert Lewis and the Honourable Minister for Health, Wellness, Human Services and Gender Relations.

The Management and staff of Courts St. Lucia would like to express sincere gratitude to the Honourable Minister for Education, Human Resource Development and Labour, Dr. Robert Lewis, for this distinguished award. The company would also like to thank the principals and teachers at the Primary School level across the island.
