Five year old hit by vehicle


A five year old was among several persons admitted to hospital between Friday, January 15 and Monday, January 18, 2016, as a result of separate incidents.

The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS), reported that during the period it responded to fifty-five ambulance and two fire calls.

According to an SLFS spokesman, the five year old was struck by a vehicle on Friday at Bouton, Soufriere.

The incident occurred at about 3:22 PM.

On the following day, Saturday, after midnight, three persons were hospitalized following a motor vehicle accident at La Resource in Vieux Fort.

On Sunday, a twenty-five year old male sustained multiple injuries when a car in which he was travelling along the Saint Jude highway overturned.

The injured man was transported to hospital via ambulance.

The SLFS also responded to a fire on Marie Therese Street, Gros Islet , on Saturday.

The fire partially destroyed a wooden building that was occupied by two females, according to the Fire Service spokesman, who said that the occupants reported being in the yard and seeing smoke emanating from one of the rooms.

The cause of the blaze if currently under investigation.
